The clearest skies and endless blue ocean…Cancun’s beauty is one of the kind and you have to experience it in person.

Resort Beach View

Cancun is located in the Yucatan Peninsula in the Mexican state of Quintana Roo. Cancun has a unique location because it is surrounded by rain forest and has white sand beaches that stretch for miles. It is one of the top vacation destinations in the world with more than 12 million visitors each year.

Although it is the youngest city in Mexico because Cancun was founded about 50 years ago, it is surrounded by rich history. Cancun was originally habituated by Mayans. Once Spanish conquistadors started colonizing this area, many Mayans died of diseases and war but their pyramid ruins still exist today making it a popular tourist area.

Cancun 10 years Ago

The last time I visited this paradise was 10 years ago with my family. This year I went back to Cancun with my 2 sisters and aunt. We stayed in Riu Yucatan Hotel in the exclusive area of PlayarCar.

2019 Copa de Oro Campeones

This trip was special because we got to see the 2019 Copa de Oro Soccer match between USA and Mexico while we there. It was an unforgettable experience to celebrate Mexico’s win while being in Mexico.

Cancun has many theme parks but the most famous one is Xcaret. Xcaret has many different parks such as Xcaret (Main Park), Xel-Há, Xplor, Xplor Fuego (night park), Xavage, Xoximilco, Xenses, Xenotes (cenotes tour), and Xichen (pyramid tour).

Xcaret

Each park is unique with many activities such as snorkeling, dolphin swimming, zip-lining, river rapids and so much more!

Xcaret’s Lagoons

We spend a day at the main park. There we snorkeled, swam in under water river, saw multiple shows, got lost in the rain-forest, saw many animals through out the park, lost track of time in the Hacienda and took a million of pictures.

My favorite part of Xcaret is their big show: The Spectacular. This show includes more than 1,000 performers and special equipment that makes it a one of a kind show that you can only see at Xcaret. The story-line is about Cancun’s and Mexico’s history. And they perform this 2-hour show every single night! The Spectacular show is one of the best I’ve seen and it’s one of the most famous shows in the world.

The Spectacular Show

I definitely recommend staying all day at the park to see the show. Make sure to go to Xcaret in the middle of your trip; you will be exhausted the next day but it will be worth it.

Besides Xcaret and the hotel, we also went shopping in la Quinta Avenida. La Quinta Avenida is a street that runs through the heart of Cancun’s shopping center. It has changed a lot with local and international stores along this street which goes on forever….it’s literally long!

Señor Frogs

One of my favorite stores from my childhood is Señor Frogs. As kids, my cousins, siblings, and I loved visiting this store. This store is scattered all over Cancun and some locations have a restaurant attached to the store.

When I was younger, I took my trips to Cancun for granted and it wasn’t until I was older that I really learned to appreciate it.

Sunrises In Paradise

With it’s history and natural beauty, Cancun is one of my favorite places to visit. Each trip is different and I discover a new part of Cancun each time. I share a lot of memories with this place and that’s what makes it so special. I can’t wait to share one of my favorite places with my friends next year. Here’s to many more sunrises and sunsets in Cancun!

Love Always,

Lidia
