All are from the dust and to the dust all return.

Ash Wednesday was yesterday which means Lent has begun. If you don’t know what Lent is let me give you a quick history…

Lent is a 40-day fasting that includes Ash Wednesday, Palm Sunday, Holy Week & ends with Easter!

Each day is significant and tells the story of Jesus’ sacrifices & his resurrection.

Lent is a time to repent of sin, to renew our faith and to prepare to celebrate joyfully the mysteries of our salvation.

During Lent, some fast while others don’t eat meat on Fridays. And everyone sacrifices something due to Jesus sacrificing himself for us.

And every year it’s the same… It’s finally Ash Wednesday & I have no idea what to give up. I know I’m not the only one with this dilemma.

In the past, I’ve given up soda, chips, Facebook, etc. Someone once told me, don’t think of it just as only giving something up. Try giving up something & replacing it with something else that is good for you.

So when I gave up soda, I replaced it with water, chips with a fruit or Facebook with a book.

But this time around I wanted to sacrifice something to better myself.

I’ve tried to give up entirely social media one year but that was a disaster because I was a Communication major & some of my classes I needed to use social media.

This time it will be different because I won’t entirely give it up but I will limit my use of it.

Even though in my career, social media pays an important part. I’ve decided to limit it by using it for work-related use & once a day check up.

Things that I could do instead of being on social media is read, write or do other healthy activities.

And hopefully by sacrificing some social media, my life won’t revolve around it as much anymore.

Remember this Lent to not just give up something but to also replace it for something else that is good for you & don’t eat meat on Fridays!

Love Always,

Lidia

P.S. Let me know what you’re giving up for Lent !
