“The thankful heart opens our eyes to a multitude of blessing that continually surround us.”

-James E. Faust

Throughout the year we get so busy in our life’s that we forget about the things that we are grateful for. Cue the last Thursday of November….

Thanksgiving Day is an annual holiday in the United States to celebrate the blessings of the year with a feast. This celebration originates from Plymouth’s Pilgrims and Wampanoag American-Indians original feast which many years later would symbolize peace, home, and family.

Thanksgiving is an important holiday in my family. Hours and hours of food preparation are put into this dinner. From the green beans, cheesy mac & cheese, potato casserole, healthy salad, buttery rolls to the fried Turkey…everything is cooked with patience and love.

Well almost everything…standing in line for House of Pie to buy their Strawberry Cheesecake and homemade pies…well patience is definitely needed for that long line!

Yes, food is an important part of Thanksgiving but what’s more important is the reminder of what we are thankful for.

And every year before we devour the food; each person in my family says what they are thankful for.

This is my 2019 Thanksgiving Thankful List:

  1. Health: I’m thankful for the changes I’ve made this year for my body. From exercising regularly to being thoughtful about the food I eat, my health has become one of my priorities.
  2. Friends: I’m thankful for the friendships that have withstand time. From high school to college, I’m glad that I am still in contact with many of my friends. And I’m thankful for each moment I spend with them, talking about old times and creating new memories.
  3. Career: I’m thankful for the opportunities I’ve received this year. From SVV Magazine to freelance work, they have helped me grow as a journalist. And the passion that is still there and stronger than ever & I know good things are coming.
  4. Family: Always thankful for my family because they are my biggest supporters. Whether they’re miles across the US or down the street, I can feel their love. Thank you for always being there for me.
  5. Past, Present, Future: I’m thankful for the past, which I have learned so many lessons. Thankful for the present, which I’m currently living a hard moment in my life but I know this will shape me to a better person in the future. And the future, which is unknown and scary right now but I’m excited to see what it brings & for that I am thankful.

So as you sit at the table tonight ready to eat everything, take a moment and remember the things you are thankful for this year.

Hope you all have an amazing Thanksgiving dinner and it’s spend with your loved ones.

Happy Thanksgiving,

Lidia

P.S. Who’s ready for Black Friday tomorrow? Or Cyber Monday!?
